1778 Women in the American Revolution

In 1778, women across America took up arms for the revolution. Mary Ludwig Hays – aka Molly Pitcher – took her husband’s place at a cannon during the Battle of Monmouth, becoming a symbol of women’s courage in the fight for independence.
